@@TiltedTripodMedia hey I have a request can you visit abandoned hicks plaza restaurant in Gilman IL it's off I 57 it between 2 gas stations and the Amtrak station if you can visit that I appreciate it
The ones in Texas are pretty good West Texas. They sell food and all type of different items. They usually have pretty good prices on bins plastic bins.
I really wanted to get out there for the last gasp.... but couldn't make it. I was at Lakeside on the day it opened. The common wisdom has it that online shopping has killed the malls, and I suppose that's true. But I still prefer brick & mortar shopping. My problem is that my age, I don't have the strength to trudge a half mile from the parking lot, then schlep around even further inside. :-) So I stick with stand alone stores. Sounds like what they have planned for the new development.

The pool was fully indoor if you have questions I can tell you what the building was like physically, I will do my best to say
The pool tho had glass walls a lot of our hotels had that if they had a pool, and in the lobby their used to be a lion piller and the rooms were kinda empty, very warm they all had box tvs and most of them were smoking friendly, it was also pet friendly tho there was a lady who stayed there a lot who let her dog poop on the stairs, the cabin was being lived in full time when we lived there im unsure if it was the owners or just someone like us who was homeless and allowed to stay there for cheaper in turn for cleaning

@@user-cu8sn7cl8s unfortunately I have no one to go with. Been trying for years to get a partner so we could explore together but no one seems to want any kind of relationship now days 🤷🏼♂️ and my mom (crazy old lady) can’t do much anymore with cancer and age. So nope it’s just me 😊

I remember when Lakeside opened in the mid '70's. At the time the complaint was that the new mall culture was destroying the downtown areas of the surrounding communities. Life and history go in such cycles.

The abandoned hotel was once a thriving place where you hv a lovely dinner and then dance the night away! It was a Holiday Inn and the restaurant/bar was called Cactus Charlie’s.

I think Mayor Moore is the problem with macon county period.l thought she was what Decatur needed,lots of people moved away, crime went up big time .l was hoping she would try to bring some stores back to Pershing or try to help revamp the mall nothing its a shame 👎

The guy who built this house was the man who invented the electric wet suit zipper. His wife had to sell the house after the prototype electrocuted the inventor in a farm pond at the back of the property.

Yea it’s great, the one store that’s near me is the ABSOLUTE WORST one I’ve ever seen, the ceiling is falling apart, there’s wires hanging from the ceiling, the speakers are zip tied to suppport bars in the ceiling and the dry wall is falling apart too, it’s very cramped and cluttered with tho reasoning for the product, yet that store is still open. While the other 2 stores in the remote area, opened in the past 2 years, they are super super nice, clean but small. And yet they r both closing, I was in one of them the other day and it was really dead, only me and a few others in the building on a Friday evening. This company is insane I’d also totally agree, there has been no reason I’ve thought I needed to go to one, especially knowing the closest one is in such a bad state, all of their stuff can be found for better prices or a better selection in other stores

The tile work was imported from Italy. Also fun fact. Mrs. Wagner owned the first paved parking lot in Muncie and charged something like a nickle a month to park there

The home was indeed built during the depression. The only way that it was approved to be built was if the structure was made of brick and steel because there was no close water source if it caught fire. Evelyn Wagner was the owner. She was associated with G and G oil. The "garage" was actually a stable house with living quarters for carriage operators.

Big Lots de-emphasized discounts and closeouts and changed its focus to selling furniture on credit. For some reason, I don't know why, that change hasn't worked out well for them.
@@R32R38 because no one goes to big lots or is thinking of big lots as a furniture store and the stuff that they sell isn’t very high-quality. Also, the selection isn’t very big when it comes to the furniture so most people probably just skip big lots and go to a furniture store or online.

Um last time I visited a mall like this was a few years ago. This mall, that hallway is where I spent a significant amount of time. There were two arcades in this mall thru the years. Pocket change in that old section. The other was out front near Penney’s for a time.

@@anthonytouchet9371 yes it’s a phenomenal mower. The only improvement it could have is better leaf mulching and or some way to collect leaves. But overall it’s the best mower I’ve ever had.

@@anthonytouchet9371 it’s still worth it because your lawn always looks immaculately cut and can have fancy striped patterns. It’s also healthier for your lawn cuz it cuts little bits at a time feeding the clippings back to the lawn. It’s also very quiet

@@anthonytouchet9371 if your lawn is free of large debris like tree branches, toys etc and doesn’t have any ditches to get stuck in (holes) then no it’s rare. As long as you have a fairly smooth lawn it wont get stuck.
I'm going to the Kentucky state fair in 10 days for a feild trip and this really helped to show me what all they have and what all there is

4:33 its a law in kentucky. stores arent allowed to sell wine and liquor in the regular store so there is a seperate section. this is common among walmart, kroger, costco, and some other stores in the area.

Blue ridge mall is currently seeing new retailers with outside entrances pop up: five below, a relocated bath and body works, Ross dress for less, and a home goods is opening by 2025.
